BNV : রাজা য়োশিয যিহূদা ও জেরুশালেমের সমস্ত নেতাদের এসে তাঁর সঙ্গে দেখা করতে নির্দেশ দিলেন|
KJV : And the king sent, and they gathered unto him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.

BNV : তারপর তিনি প্রভুর মন্দিরে গেলেন| যিহূদা ও জেরুশালেমের সমস্ত লোক ও যাজকগণ, ভাব্বাদীগণ, সাধারণ মানুষ থেকে শুরু করে মহান ব্যক্তিও তাঁর সঙ্গে মন্দিরে গেল| তারপর তিনি প্রভুর মন্দিরে খুঁজে পাওয়া বিধিপুস্তকটি সবাইকে উচ্চস্বরে পড়ে শোনালেন|
KJV : And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the LORD.
YLT : and the king goeth up to the house of Jehovah, and every man of Judah, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, from small unto great, and he readeth in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that is found in the house of Jehovah.

ERVEN : Then the king went up to the Lord's Temple. All the people of Judah and the people who lived in Jerusalem went with him. The priests, the prophets, and all the people—from the least important to the most important— went with him. Then he read the Book of the Agreement. This was the Book of the Law that was found in the Lord's Temple. Josiah read the book so that all the people could hear it.

BNV : স্তম্ভের পাশে দাঁড়িয়ে রাজা য়োশিয প্রভুর কাছে তাঁর সমস্ত বিধি ও নীতিগুলি মেনে চলবেন বলে প্রতিজ্ঞা করলেন| তিনি কাযমনোবাক্যে এই সমস্ত ও বিধিপুস্তকে যা কিছু বর্ণিত আছে তা পালনে প্রতিশ্রুত হলেন| সমস্ত লোক, রাজার প্রার্থনায য়ে তাদেরও মত আছে তা দেখাতে উঠে দাঁড়ালো|
KJV : And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all [their] heart and all [their] soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.

ERVEN : The king stood by the column and made an agreement with the Lord. He agreed to follow the Lord and to obey his commands, the agreement, and his rules. He agreed to do this with all his heart and soul. He agreed to obey the agreement written in this book. All the people stood to show they agreed to follow the agreement.

BNV : তারপর রাজা য়োশিয, প্রধান যাজক হিল্কিয, অন্যান্য যাজকদের, মন্দিরের দাররক্ষী প্রভুর মন্দির থেকে বাল মূর্ত্তি, আশেরা ও নক্ষত্রদের পূজা ও আনুগত্য প্রদর্শনের জন্য ব্যবহৃত সমস্ত থালা ও অন্যান্য জিনিসপত্র বের করে আনতে নির্দেশ দিলেন| এরপর তিনি এই সব কিছু জেরুশালেমের বাইরে কিদ্রোণের উপত্যকায নিয়ে গিয়ে পুড়িয়ে সেই ছাই বৈথেলে নিয়ে এলেন|
KJV : And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the LORD all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Bethel.

ERVEN : Then the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, the other priests, and the gatekeepers to bring out of the Lord's Temple all the dishes and things that were made to honor Baal, Asherah, and the stars of heaven. Then Josiah burned those things outside Jerusalem in the fields in Kidron Valley. Then they carried the ashes to Bethel.

BNV : যিহূদার রাজারা হারোণের পরিবারের বাইরের কিছু কিছু সাধারণ লোককে যাজক হিসেবে নিযুক্ত করেছিলেন| এই সব ভ্রান্ত যাজকরা জেরুশালেম ও যিহূদার সর্বত্র মূর্ত্তিদের জন্য বানানো উচ্চস্থানে বাল মূর্ত্তিকে, সূর্য়কে, চাঁদকে, এবং নক্ষত্ররাজির উদ্দেশ্যে ধুপধূনো দিতো| য়োশিয এই সব আচার বন্ধ করে দিয়েছিলেন|
KJV : And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.
YLT : And he hath caused to cease the idolatrous priests whom the kings of Judah have appointed, (and they make perfume in high places, in cities of Judah and suburbs of Jerusalem,) and those making perfume to Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of the heavens.

ESV : And he deposed the priests whom the kings of Judah had ordained to make offerings in the high places at the cities of Judah and around Jerusalem; those also who burned incense to Baal, to the sun and the moon and the constellations and all the host of the heavens.
ERVEN : The kings of Judah had chosen some ordinary men to serve as priests. These false priests were burning incense at the high places in every city of Judah and all the towns around Jerusalem. They burned incense to honor Baal, the sun, the moon, the constellations, and all the stars in the sky. But Josiah stopped those false priests.

BNV : তারপর প্রভুর মন্দির চত্বর থেকে আশেরার মূর্ত্তির জন্য পোঁতা সমস্ত খুঁটি উপড়ে তুলে শহরের বাইরে কিদ্রোণ উপত্যকায নিয়ে গিয়ে পুড়িয়ে ছাই করে, সেই ছাই সাধারণ মানুষদের কবরে ছড়িয়ে দিলেন|
KJV : And he brought out the grove from the house of the LORD, without Jerusalem, unto the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron, and stamped [it] small to powder, and cast the powder thereof upon the graves of the children of the people.
YLT : And he bringeth out the shrine from the house of Jehovah to the outside of Jerusalem, unto the brook Kidron, and burneth it at the brook Kidron, and beateth it small to dust, and casteth its dust on the grave of the sons of the people.

ERVEN : Josiah removed the Asherah pole from the Lord's Temple. He took the Asherah pole outside the city to the Kidron Valley and burned it there. Then he beat the burned pieces into dust and scattered the dust over the graves of the common people.

BNV : এরপর য়োশিয প্রভুর মন্দির চত্বরের ভেতরে বসবাসকারী পুরুষদেহ ব্যবসাযীদের ঘরগুলো ভেঙে ফেললেন| গণিকারাও এই সব ঘরগুলো ব্যবহার করত এবং আশেরার মূর্ত্তির প্রতি তাদের আনুগত্য জানাতে ছোট ছোট ছাউনি টাঙাতো|
KJV : And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that [were] by the house of the LORD, where the women wove hangings for the grove.
YLT : And he breaketh down the houses of the whoremongers that [are] in the house of Jehovah, where the women are weaving houses for the shrine.

ERVEN : Then King Josiah broke down the houses of the male prostitutes who were in the Lord's Temple. Women also used these houses and made little tent covers to honor the false goddess Asherah.

BNV : সে সময় যাজকরা যিহূদার বিভিন্ন শহরে ছড়িয়ে বসবাস করত এবং জেরুশালেমে প্রভুর মন্দিরের বেদীতে বলিদান না করে মূর্ত্তিসমূহের জন্য সর্বত্র বানানো উঁচু বেদীগুলোয বলিদান করতো ও ধুপধূনো দিত| গেবা থেকে বের্শেবা পর্য়ন্ত সব জায়গাতেই এই বেদীগুলো ছিল| যাজকরা জেরুশালেমের মন্দিরে তাদের জন্য নির্দিষ্ট জায়গার পরিবর্তে সাধারণ লোকদের সঙ্গে যেখানে খুশী বসে খামিরবিহীন রুটি খেত| য়োশিয সমস্ত যাজকদের জেরুশালেমে আসতে বাধ্য করে, সমস্ত উঁচু বেদী, নগর দ্বারের বাঁ পাশের যাবতীয় বেদী সবই ভেঙে দিয়েছিলেন|
KJV : And he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beer-sheba, and brake down the high places of the gates that [were] in the entering in of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which [were] on a man’s left hand at the gate of the city.

ERVEN : At that time the priests did not bring the sacrifices to Jerusalem and offer them on the altar in the Temple. The priests lived in cities all over Judah. They burned incense and offered sacrifices at the high places in those cities. The high places were everywhere, from Geba to Beersheba. And the priests ate their unleavened bread in those towns with the ordinary people—{not at the special place for priests in the Temple in Jerusalem}. But King Josiah ruined the high places and brought the priests to Jerusalem. Josiah also destroyed the high places that were on the left side of the city gate, by the Gate of Joshua. (Joshua was the ruler of the city.)

BNV : হিন্নোম সোন উপত্যকার তোফতে মোলকের মূর্ত্তির উদ্দেশ্যে লোকরা বেদীতে নিজেদের ছেলেমেয়েকে আগুনে আহুতি দিত| য়োশিয এই পাপাচরণ বন্ধ করার জন্য এই বেদী এমন ভাবে ভেঙে দিয়েছিলেন যাতে তা আর ব্যবহার করা না যায়|
KJV : And he defiled Topheth, which [is] in the valley of the children of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech.
YLT : And he hath defiled Topheth, that [is] in the valley of the son of Hinnom, so that no man doth cause his son and his daughter to pass over through fire to Molech.

ERVEN : Topheth was a place in the Valley of Hinnom's Son where people killed their children and burned them on an altar to honor the false god Molech. Josiah ruined that place so that no one could use it again.

BNV : যিহূদার আগের রাজারা প্রভুর মন্দিরের প্রবেশপথে নথন মোলক নামে এক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পদাধিকারীর ঘরের পাশে সূর্য় দেবতাকে সম্মান জানানোর জন্য একটা ঘোড়ায় টানা রথ তৈরী করে দিয়েছিলেন| য়োশিয সেই রথের ঘোড়াগুলো সরিয়ে রথটাকে পুড়িয়ে দিয়েছিলেন|
KJV : And he took away the horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun, at the entering in of the house of the LORD, by the chamber of Nathan- melech the chamberlain, which [was] in the suburbs, and burned the chariots of the sun with fire.
YLT : And he causeth to cease the horses that the kings of Judah have given to the sun from the entering in of the house of Jehovah, by the chamber of Nathan-Melech the eunuch, that [is] in the suburbs, and the chariots of the sun he hath burnt with fire.

ERVEN : In the past the kings of Judah had put some horses and a chariot near the entrance to the Lord's Temple. This was near the room of an important official named Nathan Melech. The horses and chariot were to honor the sun god. Josiah removed the horses and burned the chariot.

BNV : আগেকার রাজারা আহসের বাড়ির ছাদে এবং মনঃশি প্রভুর মন্দিরের দুটো উঠোনেই মূর্ত্তিসমূহের পূজোর জন্য য়ে বেদীগুলো বানিয়েছিলেন, য়োশিয সেই সব বেদী টুকরো টুকরো করে ভেঙে, ভাঙা টুকরোগুলো কিদ্রোণ উপত্যকায ফেলে দেয়|
KJV : And the altars that [were] on the top of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the LORD, did the king beat down, and brake [them] down from thence, and cast the dust of them into the brook Kidron.
YLT : And the altars that [are] on the top of the upper chamber of Ahaz, that the kings of Judah made, and the altars that Manasseh made in the two courts of the house of Jehovah, hath the king broken down, and removeth thence, and hath cast their dust unto the brook Kidron.

ERVEN : In the past the kings of Judah had built altars on the roof of Ahab's building. King Manasseh had also built altars in the two courtyards of the Lord's Temple. Josiah destroyed all the altars and threw the broken pieces into the Kidron Valley.

BNV : রাজা শলোমনও অতীতে জেরুশালেমের কাছে বিনাশ পাহাড়ের দক্ষিণে এই ধরণের কিছু উঁচু বেদী বানিয়েছিলেন, যেখানে সীদোনীয়দের ঘৃণ্য মূর্ত্তি অষ্টোরতের পূজার জন্য এই সব বেদী ব্যবহার করা হত| এছাড়াও মহারাজ শলোমন মোয়াবীয়দের কমোশ ও আমোনীযদের মিল্কম প্রমুখ ঘৃণ্য মূর্ত্তির জন্য য়ে সমস্ত উঁচু বেদী বানিয়েছিলেন, য়োশিয সে সমস্তই ভেঙে দিয়েছিলেন|
KJV : And the high places that [were] before Jerusalem, which [were] on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had builded for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon, did the king defile.

ERVEN : In the past King Solomon built some high places on Destroyer Hill near Jerusalem. The high places were on the south side of that hill. King Solomon built one of these places of worship to honor Ashtoreth, that horrible thing the people of Sidon worship. He also built one to honor Chemosh, that horrible thing the Moabites worship. And King Solomon built one high place to honor Milcom, that horrible thing the Ammonites worship. But King Josiah ruined all these places of worship.

ERVEN : Josiah also broke down the altar and high place at Bethel. Jeroboam son of Nebat had made this altar. Jeroboam caused Israel to sin. Josiah broke down both that altar and the high place. He broke the stones of the altar to pieces. Then he beat it into dust and he burned the Asherah pole.

ERVEN : Josiah looked around and saw graves on the mountain. He sent men, and they took the bones from the graves. Then he burned the bones on the altar. In this way Josiah ruined the altar. This happened according to the message from the Lord that the man of God announced. The man of God announced these things when Jeroboam stood beside the altar at the feast. Then Josiah looked around and saw the grave of the man of God.

ERVEN : Josiah also destroyed all the temples at the high places in the cities of Samaria. The kings of Israel had built those temples, which had made the Lord very angry. Josiah destroyed them, just as he had destroyed the place of worship at Bethel.
